On July 15, the Wyoming Gaming Commission (WGC) opened the application process for sports betting. State law adopted April 5 only allows for mobile sports betting, but the state’s four Indian casinos are able to offer retail sportsbook at their brick-and-mortar locations.
The commission said its goal is to have operators accepting live wagers shortly after the NFL season begins.
On July 15 the WGC made available on its website directives about the licensing process, integrity monitoring and how to apply for a license. Barstool Sports, BetMGM, DraftKings and FanDuel have all submitted formal letters of intent to apply, with SuperBook Sports considered a potential applicant. A minimum of five digital platforms are called for by state law, with no upward cap.
Wyoming is the second state to legalize digital-only sportsbooks; Tennessee was the first in 2019.
The regulations for mobile sports betting are still under public review. The WGC anticipates that the final draft will be approved by September 3 at the latest.
