Mainland China finance industry veteran Zheng Xiaosong has been named the Central People’s Government Liaison in Macau. In this role, he will serve as the official contact between Beijing and the government of the Macau special administrative region.
Macau Chief Executive Chui Sai On welcomed Zheng and said the new director would help the MSAR continue its cooperative relationship with Mainland China.
Zheng replaces Wang Zhimin as Beijing’s main man in Macau. Wang has left to become director of the liaison office in Hong Kong.
Zheng previously was vice minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, reported GGRAsia. He also served for almost three years as vice-governor of Fujian province, according to media reports.
