International Game Technology PLC and Sony Pictures Television brought the year-long celebration of the 25th anniversary of the venerable Wheel of Fortune slot machine to a close last week with appearances of the slot during “Big Money Week” on the syndicated game show on which the game is based.
Throughout the week, Wheel of Fortune slots games appeared on the set of the Wheel of Fortune TV show, and was the focus of various vignettes that aired during the episodes May 2-6. In addition, the Big Money Week featured IGT and MGM Grand-branded wedges on the iconic game show wheel, as well as premium prize packages presented in partnership with Carnival Cruise Line, which features Wheel of Fortune slots games in the casinos of their cruise ships.
“Concluding a successful, year-long 25th anniversary celebration of IGT’s Wheel of Fortune Slots on the namesake game show during sweeps week represents the phenomenal entertainment value of IGT’s partnership with Sony Pictures Television,” said Jennifer Fales, IGT vice president of global licensing.
“Throughout the ‘Big Money Week,’ the game show producers artfully integrated the Wheel of Fortune slot games, while emphasizing their jackpot-paying legacy and giving contestants the opportunity to win big. We hope that players who have enjoyed various iterations of Wheel of Fortune slot games over the last 25 years will have the opportunity to view these special Wheel of Fortune episodes.”
“It has been an exceptional experience to celebrate the historic 25th anniversary of Wheel of Fortune Slots in partnership with IGT,” said Suzanne Prete, executive vice president, game shows, for Sony Pictures Television. “Part of what has made the Wheel of Fortune brand so relevant to slot players is its inherent connection to compelling game play and entertainment. This synergy will really come to life in the Wheel of Fortune’s ‘Big Money’ Week where IGT’s Wheel of Fortune Slots are so prominently showcased.”
