The Alabama Senate Democratic Caucus recently released its 2016 legislative agenda, “Empowering Alabama Families.” Among numerous proposals was a constitutional amendment allowing a lottery and casinos.

The proposed constitutional amendment would establish a lottery and casinos with proceeds going into the Education Trust Fund and General Fund. Caucus members stated it’s important to include casinos with the lottery bill because they create jobs.

The legislative session starts Tuesday, February 9. The Democratic Caucus is made of eight senators in the 35-member senate.
