Angela Leong Runs for Reelection in Macau

Angela Leong On Kei, an executive director of Macau casino operator SJM Holdings Ltd. and former wife of Stanley Ho, is running for reelection to the city’s legislative assembly. The election will be held September 17.

Angela Leong On Kei, an executive director of Macau casino giant SJM Holdings Ltd. and the fourth wife of SJM founder Stanley Ho is running for reelection to the city’s legislative assembly.

A directly-elected Macau legislator since 2005, Leong is running for a fourth consecutive term, reported GGRAsia.

Leong’s electoral platform, known as Nova União para Desenvolvimento de Macau, also includes her son Arnaldo Ho Yau Heng, currently assistant chief operating officer of Sociedade de Jogos de Macau SA, which holds SJM Holdings’ Macau gaming license.

A number of other directly-elected legislators in Macau have links to the local gaming industry, including Zheng Anting, a local junket representative, who won a seat in 2013, and Melinda Chan Mei Yi, wife of David Chow Kam Fai, co-chairman and chief executive of Macau Legend Development Ltd.

Others who may be in the running are Cloee Chao, director of the gaming worker group Professional for Gaming of New Macau; Lei Kit Meng, a local junket investor; and directly-elected legislator Chan Meng Kam, president of the Golden Dragon Group Co. Ltd., which runs Casino Golden Dragon and Casino Taipa Square under the SJM gaming license.
