The Arizona Department of Gaming has set September 9, the official beginning of NFL season, as its target date for sports betting to go live.
In advance of that move, it plans to post industry rules for “public inspection and comment” on June 14. Both tribal casinos and professional sports organizations are authorized to offer retail and mobile sports wagering; each category got a total of 10 licenses.
NFL season has always been the target for lawmakers and Governor Doug Ducey. Industry experts expect the state to generate more than $154 million in sports betting revenue. The legislature’s budget analysts say they expect the state will bring in $34 million in taxes.
