The Atlantic City International Airport set a record for January by handling 97,171 passengers.
That follows a previous record in December 2015 of 97,228 passengers, according to the South Jersey Transportation Authority, which owns the airport.
The records come as new statistics from the U.S. Department of Transportation showed that ACY passengers paid the ninth-lowest fares among the country’s 200 busiest airports in the third quarter of last year, according to the Press of Atlantic City.
The average fare for Atlantic City flights was $150.17 from July through September of 2015, the agency’s latest reporting period. Atlantic City International is the No. 102 airport in the country when measured in the total number of domestic passengers, according to DOT’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics.
The airport features yearly service from only one airline, Spirit Airlines, a discount carrier that makes a substantial amount of its revenues through add-on fees. The airline offers service to many Florida vacation destinations.
