Atlantic City Revel Owner Plans to Reopen Casino

Developer Glen Straub (l.), the owner of Atlantic City’s closed Revel casino, says he plans to reopen a casino at the site. The casino would be smaller than the property’s previous casino space, and would have a new name. He did not give a timeline for reopening.

Developer Glenn Straub, who purchased the closed and bankrupt Revel casino in Atlantic City, says he plans to reopen a casino at the property, but using only about half the casino space.

“We’ll have a casino that’s about 50 percent of what was there,” he told the Associated Press.

Straub did not say when the casino would reopen, but said other uses at the property would open first.

Straub said he is moving forward first with plans for a water park at the resort, which could start construction in late May. Hotel rooms could be open by June, he told the wire service.

An application for a state casino license remains incomplete, and it is unlikely a casino could open at Revel this summer. Straub told the AP he plans to hire an operator to run the casino, which would include Asian gambling attractions.
