Australian State to Survey Public on Pokies

The government of New South Wales, Australia is going to survey the public on slot machine reforms that were first proposed in 2018.

The goal is to cap the numbers of the machines, called pokies, and to encourage establishments that normally have the machines to be “pokies-free.”

In 2018 caps were instituted to make sure no additional machines could be imported while the regulations were being reevaluated.

The survey is part of an overall evaluation of the proposal to be conducted by Liquor & Gaming NSW in which the public and stakeholders will be able to help shape the policy.
