Baha Mar Hangs Help Wanted Sign

Baha Mar is hiring 1,500 Bahamian locals ahead of its planned opening in April under new owners Chow Tai Fook Enterprises. The recruiting drive is expected to generate more than 4,000 jobs at the US$3.5 billion resort casino by the end of this year.

The revived Baha Mar megaresort in the Bahamas has begun recruiting staff ahead of the project’s long-awaited opening in April.

Some 1,500 citizens of the Caribbean island nation will be hired over the next several weeks, said Baha Mar Senior Vice President of Government and External Affairs Robert Sands.

In an interview with the Bahamas Tribune Business newspaper Sands said Chow Tai Fook Enterprises, Baha Mar’s new owner, is dedicated to hitting a target date of April 21 for the beginning of the resort’s phased opening, consisting of 1,800 hotel rooms, a casino, golf course and convention facilities.

The Hong Kong-based conglomerate is reported to be negotiating with Hyatt, SLS and Rosewood as hotel partners.

Plans are to fill another 1,800 positions by August 2017, and 1,000 when full build-out is achieved in December, according to reports.

Hiring is being conducted online through the company’s web site: careers.bahamar.com.
