Executives from the Bahamas Gaming Board recently toured the .5 billion Baha Mar Resort in Nassau, set to open later this year. Its 100,000 square foot gaming floor, including 1,500 slot machines and 150 table games, will be the largest in the Caribbean.
Paul Pusateri, Baha Mar chief operating officer, said, “We are proud to work with the Gaming Board as the country moves towards modernizing casino gaming legislation to make Baha Mar competitive with global gaming destinations such as Las Vegas and Macau.” The Gaming Board currently is developing new casino gaming legislation for the Bahamas that Prime Minister Perry G. Christie said would “bring it into line with leading competing jurisdictions.”
Pusateri added, “Baha Mar is also committed to our ongoing investment in service training so that our team is ready to provide world-class service for our guests.” He noted the Baha Mar Academy will offer a free casino dealer trainee program beginning July 2014. Participants will be trained for featured games at the casino as well as service standards and supervisory skills.
The Gaming Board expects to license more than 1,000 gaming and non-gaming employees at Baha Mar.
