The new Century Casino in Saw Close will hold its grand opening May 25.
The casino will feature 18 gaming tables, 35 slot machines and 24 automated live gaming terminals and will form part of a mixed leisure development, which also includes a 147-bedroom four-star Z hotel and Italian restaurant chain Zizzi.
“All of us at Century Casino Bath are tremendously excited about welcoming the public to the opening of our casino from 9pm on Friday, May 25,” said Kartini Sutoto, business development manager for the project in a press release. “The casino will be a fantastic new addition to the entertainment and nightlife of Bath and will offer facilities and an environment worthy of the already wonderful city.”
Casino officials said the project will help Bath “reconnect to its celebrated history as 18th century England’s gaming epicenter—bringing a whole new dimension to entertainment in the city comes Century Casino, offering visitors a classic casino experience.”
Planning permission was granted by Bath and North East Somerset Council for the £19m project in March 2014 and building work began in 2015. However, the project suffered a setback last year when the original licensees, Global Gaming Ventures, pulled out of the deal. Century Casino was quickly announced as the new operator, paying £600,000 for the license and spending £5m on building interiors, according to local reports.
