MLB Big League Weekend also will help
St. Patrick’s Day parties, a number of sporting events, several big conventions and other activities could make March a record-breaking month for Las Vegas tourism, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitor Authority reports.
Among the big draws in the city are the ConExpo-ConAgg show, which comes to town every three years. It was expected to draw about 125,000 people, who could create a nongaming economic impact of $157.3 million.
Major League Baseball’s Big League Weekend, featuring the Chicago Cubs and New York Mets, also came to town in March, along with several college basketball tournaments, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
March is typically a strong month for visitation to Las Vegas. This year’s numbers could exceed the 3.5 million visitors who came to Sin City in 2013. That, too, was a record-breaker. The official tourism numbers for March will be released at the end of April.
