Betsson AB has announced it will layoff about 160 workers after “unsatisfactory” growth in 2017.
The move is aimed at streamlining the company’s operations and will restructure across all group offices. The group is seeking to deliver annual corporate savings of SEK 50-60 million, it said in a press release.
“In cooperation with the operational management team, we have started to implement actions to improve operations. The restructured organization will be more streamlined with clearer responsibilities, which I believe will improve its efficiency over time,” said Pontus Lindwall, CEO of Betsson.
While presenting Betsson’s third quarter trading update in October, Lindwall said the firm’s growth had been unsatisfactory throughout 2017. Lindwall, the former Group Chairman of Betsson, took the CEO roles following the departure of former CEO Ulrik Bengsston.
