A London casino doesn’t have to pay a high roller who gambled £27 million (US$37.7 million) in the venue over five nights, came out £1.2 million in the black, but wanted even more.

According to media reports, the self-described high roller, Juste Puharic, claimed in court that the Park Lane Club in Mayfair offered him an incentive to play roulette and as a result, owed him £244,000 (US$340,000) over and above his winnings.

Puharic said he was offered 0.9 percent commission on his roulette stakes, making him “contractually entitled” to the extra money.

Attorney Guy Olliff-Cooper, on behalf of the Park Lane Club, said the incentives offered to roulette players can be used as a “discount on losses,” but is not meant for gamblers who win.

Judge Gavin Mansfield summarily dismissed the claim, saying, “The claimant was paid his winnings. The claimant is entitled to no further sum.”
