Boyd Gaming Breaks Ground on Cadence Crossing Casino

Boyd Gaming has officially commenced work on Cadence Crossing, a new land-based casino in Las Vegas Valley, by hosting a ground-breaking ceremony at the location Thursday.

Boyd Gaming Breaks Ground on Cadence Crossing Casino

Boyd said Cadence Crossing will replace the existing Jokers Wild venue on Boulder Highway in Nevada. The group is hoping to open the facility – its first new development in 20 years – in mid-2026.

The Las Vegas Review Journal reports several Boyd Gaming executives attended the ceremony. They were joined by representatives Henderson’s City Council and leadership from the nearby 12,000-home master-planned Cadence development

Once complete, the Cadence Crossing casino will feature a gaming floor with more than 450 slot machines. Also on location will be several bar and restaurants, while a hotel will be added later as part of a phased approach.

This will be structured to match the development pace of the subdivision west of the casino. According to Boyd, this is the fastest-growing master-planned community in the U.S.

Jokers Wild will continue to operate until the new casino is ready to begin operations. The old venue will then be demolished to make room for parking for the Cadence Crossing casino.

Boyd Executive Talks Up New Job Prospects

Steve Schutte, executive vice president of operations at Boyd, said the new project commences in what is the group’s 50th year in business.

“The casino will allow us to better serve the rapidly growing master-planned community of Cadence,” he said. “It will further expand our presence in Henderson as the Cadence community continues to grow in the years ahead.”

Schutte also said the new venue will help create jobs within the local area. While he stopped short of saying how many positions would be available, he stated there will be more jobs than at the existing Jokers Wild site.

“We typically don’t give out specific team member count detail for our properties,” Shutte said. “But there will be significantly more team members in the new facility than there are in the existing one.”

It also remains unclear as to how many construction jobs will be available as part of the new casino project.
