Brazil Lawmakers Continue to Evaluate Gaming

Arthur Lira, president of Brazil’s Chamber of Deputies, told reporters at a recent press conference that Bill 442/91, which would legalize all forms of gaming, will be discussed during the current session, possibly as early as this week.

“The discussion about gaming is on one of those agendas from the last session and as soon as the text is really well solidified by the rapporteur, it could be in the Plenary next week or even in February,” Lira said, according to Games Magazine Brasil.

The press conference was held after a meeting of the Chamber of Deputies’ College of Leaders, during which the gaming issue was not discussed, according to Lira.

“We did not address the issue of gaming here, but as the project has already entered the agenda, the opinion was read, the discussion was closed and there was an agreement to take it to a vote at the beginning of the year,” he said. “It is already on the agenda.”
