Buffalo Creek Casino Expansion Underway

The Seneca Nation of Indians and Seneca Gaming Corporation earlier this month held a formal groundbreaking ceremony as work got underway on a $40 million expansion of the Buffalo Creek Casino in Buffalo. The tribe is adding 28,500-square-feet of gaming and retail space on two floors and anticipates hiring another 300 workers when done in 2017.

The Seneca Nation of Indians and Seneca Gaming Corporation this month got to work on a million expansion of the tribe’s Buffalo Creek Casino in Buffalo.

The tribe held a formal groundbreaking ceremony to herald the start of construction on the expansion project, which is expected to be completed in spring 2017 and add to a local economic boom.

“The economic turnaround of Buffalo is something that many people didn’t think would happen, but look around – it’s happening,” Seneca Nation President Maurice A. John said.

“The Seneca Nation is an important part of that movement, and this $40 million investment is more evidence that the Seneca Nation and the City of Buffalo are both on the rise.”

The tribe plans to add a 28,500-square-foot, two-story addition to its current casino to add gaming space on the lower level and retail space above.

The ground floor will house an additional 300 slot machines, table games, high-limit room, increase the casino’s non-smoking area, and add a performance stage at the Stixx Sports Bar. The tribe also plans to expand the casino’s Buffalo Savors Grill.

On the second floor, the casino will add a Western Door western-style restaurant, which will have indoor and outdoor dining. The second floor also will house meetings and events space, and a banquet area.

The Seneca Nation estimates the expansion will create 440 temporary construction jobs while the expansion is being built, and 300 new jobs at the casino, raising its total employment to more than 800 people.
