Caesars Palace Celebrating Golden Year

Caesars Palace opened on the Las Vegas Strip on August 5, 1966. To commemorate 50 remarkable years, the casino resort launched a Summer of Caesars celebration, with special promotions, events and surprises—including a gala weekend party, August 5-6, a self-guided historical tour, special room rates, merchandise, sweepstakes, events and more.

A Summer of Caesars celebration started Friday, June 17 to honor Caesars Palace’s 50th anniversary. The casino resort opened on the Las Vegas Strip on August 5, 1966. The Golden Year party will last throughout the year and feature gala weekend, August 5-6, featuring a commemorative cake and champagne toast plus 2,500 VIPs who have been associated with Caesars over five decades. Caesars Entertainment President and Chief Executive Officer Mark Frissora said, “Unlike other famed Strip properties that have now been torn down and swept away, Caesars Palace is more relevant than ever. With our portfolio of entertainment superstars and celebrity chefs, the recent room enhancements and new restaurant offerings, Caesars Palace is well poised for the next 50 years. We are excited to show our gratitude and share our 50th anniversary celebration with our guests, partners, employees and community.”

Special 50th anniversary events and promotions include:

Caesars has offered numerous “firsts,” such as the resident headliner, including Cher, Bette Midler, Elton John, Rod Steward, Shania Twain, Mariah Carey, Jerry Seinfeld, Matt Goss and Celine—who recently held a meet-and-greet and photo opportunity after her show for five employees who have been with Caesars since Year One.

Caesars also created the concept of the celebrity chef with Wolfgang Puck’s Spago in the Forum Shops in 1992. Today, Caesars offers restaurants by Bobby Flay, Gordon Ramsay, Guy Savoy, Nobu Matsuhisa, Brian Malarkey and Michael Chow.

A $1 billion renovation is taking place now at Caesars, including the recently opened Julius Tower, a re-imagination of the hotel’s original Roman Tower; the Omnia nightclub with superstar DJs; the Montecristo Cigar Bar and Mr. Chow. Caesars also has welcomed back Celine to the Colosseum, along with new resident artists Mariah Carey, Reba McEntire and Brooks & Dunn and long-standing residents Elton John, Rod Steward and Jerry Seinfeld.
