Caesars Virginia Set to Open Late Next Year

Caesars Virginia in Danville is on track to open in late 2024, as projected. Ground was broken on the $650 million casino resort in August 2022. The temporary facility, Danville Casino, opened May 15 and will operate until the permanent venue opens.

In an interview with the Danville Register & Bee, Caesars Virginia General Manager Chris Albrecht said currently construction work is underway on the hotel tower, the casino basement including back-of-house areas and the loading dock and customer parking lots. He said the permanent facility is expected to generate up to $38 million in tax revenue to the city once it’s operational.

Albrecht said the temporary Danville Casino currently has more than 400 employees, and noted that “all these positions will move over to the full resort” when it opens.

Previously, Caesars officials said the permanent venue would create 1,300 jobs but Albrecht told the Register & Bee, “We are still building our staffing plan for the permanent facility, but the number of employees will significantly increase the temporary.”

Danville Casino offers just under 800 slots, 33 table games, 36 electronic table games and 12 sports betting kiosks, Albrecht said. He added, “Much of the equipment inside the temporary casino will move over into the permanent facility.”

The permanent Caesars Virginia will offer more than 1,400 slot machines and table games, plus a 500-room hotel, Caesars Sportsbook, World Series of Poker room with 25 tables, 40,000 square feet of meeting and convention space and a 2,500-person entertainment venue.

Albrecht told the Register & Bee, “We will have a variety of great restaurant options for our patrons and plan to share more specifics at a later date.” He noted a second dining option, a noodle bowl kiosk, was recently added in the high-limit area at Danville Casino, which also features Three Stacks, a quick-service restaurant named for three brick smokestacks that remain on the Caesars Virginia site.
