California Casino Launches Global Payments’ VIP Mobility

On June 8, Global Payments Gaming Solutions announced that Viejas Casino & Resort has successfully launched its patented-VIP Mobility mobile solution, enabling true cashless casino gaming. The resort, owned and operated by the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians, is located in Alpine, California, near San Diego.

Consumers are increasingly choosing to go cashless in their daily lives, from the coffee shop to the gas pump to the grocery store, and they want that same level of convenience to extend to their gaming experiences as well. Casino operators, in turn, stand to benefit from the adoption of cashless gaming as it provides a more cost-effective, secure payment method within their gaming floors.

“Our adoption of VIP Mobility will provide additional convenience and increased transaction security for our guests,” said Erich Hans, director of treasury and CFO of Viejas Casino & Resort. “By allowing our players to bypass traditional funding sources, such as ATMs and/or the Cage, we have significantly improved optionality and expediency. We are excited to be the first casino in Southern California to offer this new benefit to our guests, and we are confident that it will provide a material enhancement to their overall gaming experience here at Viejas.”

Global Payments Gaming Solutions’ VIP Mobility is unique within the industry in that it is seamless from funding through cash-out. Casino guests create digital TITO tickets on their mobile devices by scanning an existing voucher or via their VIP Preferred® e-check accounts. They are then able to easily pair their mobile device to any slot or table game by simply scanning a QR code and can easily reload from their phone and retrieve their funds once playing is complete. Play is never interrupted to get cash.

“As adoption of cashless payment alternatives continues to grow within the U.S. gaming industry, we are proud to offer our partners with solutions that meet the evolving needs of their customers,” said Christopher Justice, president of Global Payments Gaming Solutions. “We look forward to helping Viejas Casino & Resort provide their patrons with an innovative gaming experience.”
