California Casino Reopening Spikes Highway Traffic

A casino that was closed for 14 months and then reopened on New Year’s Eve has caused a noticeable increase in traffic on Highway 41 in California’s Madera County. When the Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino reopened it caused bumper-to-bumper traffic the first day.

The reopening of Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino in Coarsegold, California on New Year’s Eve has caused traffic on Highway 41 in Madera County to increase significantly, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The route is a popular road to Yosemite, but is the main road that customers of the casino, which was closed for more than a year, take to get there.

According to local accounts traffic was “bumper to bumper” on New Year’s Eve.

In addition to thousands of visitors who were denied their casino fix for 14 months, the casino also employs more than 1,000 people.

CHP Sgt. Ethan Jackson told Your Central Valley, “We have seen a considerably increase in traffic on that section of 41.” Jenkins added, “With them open it brings a lot of jobs, and you know if everybody can get a long and they can stay open it should bring a lot money to the economy.”
