Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in southern California last week unveiled a new mobile app and web program that allows players to play casino slots on the go—but not for real money.
The casino, owned by the Cabazon Band of Mission Indians, will offer the same slots that are available on the casino floor. According to casino General Manager Paul Ryan, “We want to give our players access to their favorite casino content in as many formats and channels as possible.”
He added, “A social casino platform on web and mobile devices customized for our brand is an easy way to deepen our relationship with current players, and send new offers to our loyal customers.”
The app anticipates the possibility that online gaming may someday be legalized in the Golden State. It offers free poker. Currently online poker is the subject of a major effort by several gaming tribes, card clubs and racetracks to legalize the practice.
The federal Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 bans online gaming unless it occurs within the border of a state or as part of an Indian gaming pact.
Meantime, say experts, it’s a great advertising ploy.
