California Casino Updates Pavilion

Pauma Casino in San Diego County just replaced an aging concert pavilion with a much larger one that will allow it to offer concerts hosting nearly 1,200 seats. The new venue, a tent-like structure, is called the Pauma Pavilion.

One of the smaller casinos in San Diego County, Casino Pauma, is upping the ante to be more competitive by opening its just completed renovation and expansion of the Pauma Pavilion.

A new tent-like structure has replaced the one that had been there for ten years. The pavilion, next to the casino, hosts concerts.

Melissa Asmus, marketing director at Casino Pauma, told the Press Enterprise, “We started discussing replacing the old one about six months ago. We really wanted something that would elevate the guests’ experience and get bigger and better acts.”

The audience capacity has increased from 815 to in excess of 1160, and is amplified by new sound and lighting and a bigger stage. Nostalgia favorite Engelbert Humperdinck opened the new venue on February 19. Other big names will follow, include C&W legend Trace Adkins on July 11.

Although it’s among the smallest of San Diego’s casinos, Casino Pauma is stepping in well-worn footprints created by the likes of Pechanga Resort & Casino’s $300 million expansion and Pala Casino Spa & Resort’s new hotel and pool complex that it recently broke ground on.
