California Governor Jerry Brown last week signed tribal state gaming compacts with Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk Indians and the Dry Creek Rancheria Band of Pomo Indians and amended compacts with the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria, San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, and United Auburn Indian Community.
The new compacts addressed licensing, compliance enforcement, mitigation of off-reservation impacts and protections for patrons and employees similar to previous compacts. Each compact is geared to individual tribe’s unique circumstances.
The compact with the Graton Rancheria updates the 2012 compact, while the amendment to the San Manuel Compact addresses an ambiguity related to the tribe’s trust land that was not addressed in last year’s pact. The United Auburn document updates the 2015 document.
