Southern California’s San Manuel Casino opened up its $750 million expansion to the public July 24. That weekend also coincided with the casino’s 35th anniversary.
It included three bars called Aces, Deuces and Overlook, two floors of additional gaming to hold 1,500 new slots—bringing the total to 6,500—a high limit room, the Enclave, shopping that includes men’s and women’s luxury items and an all-hours restaurant, Serrano Vista Café, that will open this month. The casino also added 40 new table games, with most including progressive side bets.
The expansion, which broke ground three years ago, is expected to generate 2,500 new jobs.
Phase 2 of the expansion will include a 17-floor hotel, spa and pool deck, slated to open in December. Forbes has named it as one of the “35 Most Anticipated Hotel Openings of 2021.” A 3,000-seat entertainment venue will be added in 2022.
The San Manuel Casino opened as a bingo hall in 1986 and in 1994 expanded into a casino with slots and card games. It has continued a steady growth since then.
Tribal Chairman Ken Ramirez said in a news release, “When our tribe set out in 1986 to build a bingo hall, we believed that if we could provide opportunities for our Tribal Community, our team members and our guests, we would secure a better future for our people. Now in 2021, with the opening of the new expansion, we continue to prioritize our team, our guests and our community building on the strength of the past.”
