The Comptroller’s Office of Chile is investigating a possible conflict of interest in gaming holdings in a blind trust owned by Chile’s president, billionaire Sebastian Pinera.
A congressional committee recently discovered that two of the fiduciaries that manage the president’s funds invest in the Enjoy casino. In January the president issued a decree that benefited the casino.
A spokesman for Pinera issued a statement saying he favored the investigation, “to clarify any doubts, disprove false accusations and ratify the full and permanent compliance by the president.”
