OEG’s eighth market
Olympic Casino, a subsidiary of Olympic Entertainment Group, has opened its new Casino Malta in the Maltese city of St. Julian’s. It is the group’s largest casino by far—3,000 square meters, or more than 32,000 square feet—and is located in the Malta Intercontinental Hotel.
The casino—in the company’s eighth market—features 285 slots, two electronic roulette tables, 29 casino and poker tables, and a sports betting and bar area, according to the Times of Malta.
OEG’s first casino in Malta—and the fourth casino overall in the country—was established in partnership with Eden Leisure Group. The casino will be operated by OEG under a management agreement.
The new casino is the largest on the island and has come at an investment of over €12 million.
Owners Ian and Kevin De Cesare said, “We are delighted to finally open our doors after several years in the process. We are lucky to have great operator partners in our businesses from Olympic Entertainment to our hotel operators InterContinental Hotel Group to together will ensure that the industry is grown rather than cannibalized from other operators. The synergies of significant hotel accommodation, an existing entertainment business and great partners is, what we hope is a tremendous winning formula.”
