Casino Revenue Down; iGaming, Sports Betting Up in PA

Pennsylvania casino revenues were down in November due to the pandemic, but soaring numbers from iGaming and sports betting made up some of the difference.

Lockdown orders caused a dip in casino revenue for Pennsylvania casinos in November, while some of those losses were made up by surging online gaming and sports betting business.

According to numbers released last week by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, overall revenue for November was $284.2 million, down 2.68 percent from November 2019. The fact the decrease was so small can be directly attributed to soaring revenues from online gaming and sports betting.

While slot revenue was down 31.59 percent for the month to $129.5 million and table-game revenue was down almost 30 percent, online gaming increase from $5.1 million in November 2019 to $39.3 million in November 2020—a jump of 673 percent on the slot side. Online table games were up 592 percent. Sports betting revenue for the month was $37.3 million, up 154 percent over November 2019.
