CCOP Begins Advertising Campaign

The Coalition for Consumer and Online Protection has spent $250,000 on paid ads in favor of online gambling in the U.S. The group was formed to fight the Sheldon Adelson-backed Coalition to Stop Internet Gambling.

The Coalition for Consumer and Online Protection has launched an initial 0,000, three-week advertising campaign in support of legalizing online gambling in the U.S.

The effort is a response to Las Vegas Sands owner Sheldon Adelson’s Coalition to Stop Internet Gambling.

The online and print ads point out the advantages of federally legalized online gambling and are against any Congressional attempt to ban online gambling. They have appeared in newspapers and sites for the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the Washington Post and the political newspaper The Hill in Washington DC.

The Coalition is backed by MGM, the PPA and the American Gaming Association.

CCOP officials said the Coalition is working on a second phase in its advertising campaign.

The coalition has also borrowed from Adelson’s group, calling on various politicians and industry leaders to pen op-ed pieces for various publications as well as attend speaking engagements. The CCOP is also conducting a social networking drive.
