Choctaw Hotel Tower Loses 8 Stories

Due to permitting issues with the Federal Aviation Administration, Choctaw Nation officials announced the new hotel at its Choctaw Casino and Resort (l.) in Durant, Oklahoma will be 14 stories instead of 22, as originally planned. The hotel is part of a $275 million expansion which will be completed next summer.

Choctaw Nation officials recently announced the new hotel at the tribe’s Choctaw Casino and Resort in Durant, Oklahoma will feature 14 stories instead of the originally planned 22. The hotel is part of a 5 million expansion at the casino resort.

Tribal spokeswoman Judy Allen said the redesign was done because of permitting issues with the Federal Aviation Administration. She added, by reducing the hotel tower height, renovations can be completed by next summer. The expansion also will include a new movie theater, laser zone, bowling alley and food court, Allen said.
