All the groups interested in participating in Colorado sports betting will be meeting with representatives of the state’s Limited Gaming Control Commission this week.
Voters approved of sports betting in the state’s three casino cities, as well as on mobile platforms in a narrow election win in November. Now the commission must create the regulatory framework to oversee the new industry.
No timeline for this has been released, but the state has until May to get the regulations in place.
Topics for the meeting include General rules, compliance, technology, integrity and information and responsible gaming. Companies that deal in all five fields, and there are more than 50 of them, will be included. They include names such as DraftKings, FanDuel and William Hill for sports book operators, and sports leagues such as Major League Baseball, NBA and PGA Tour.
Casinos will be represented by the likes of Century Casino, Full House, Twin River and Maverick Gaming.
Sportsbook suppliers will include IGT, Sportradar and Worldpay Gaming Solutions.
About two dozen private citizens who want to have their say will also be at the meeting. Plus several law firms.
The sports leagues will argue that official regulations should mandate the use of official league data, which they would want to be paid for. The PGA has been quoted as saying that data not provided by it is stolen.
Sports betting will be taxed at 10 percent. Each of the more than 30 commercial casinos have been allotted one sports betting license that they can assign to a sportsbook operator of their choosing.
