The Connecticut Lottery Corp. took in $107.2 million in sales in March, a 15.9 percent plummet from $127.5 million in that same month in 2019. It is also 10 percent off from the budget projections for this fiscal year, which were made before the Covid-19 pandemic hit the state.
Revenues from the multi-state draw games Powerball and Mega Millions declined from $18.5 million in March 2019 to $6.4 million. Keno revenues remained flat for the month at $9.9 million.
Currently the state has 2,450 retailers selling tickets, down from 2,900 on March 1. Before the full effects of the pandemic were felt, the Lottery was $400,000 ahead of projections for the fiscal year that ends June 30.
