CQ Holding Company announced it has completed the purchase of the Belle of Baton Rouge and now owns both downtown riverboat casinos, including the recently acquired Hollywood Casino. Opened September 30, 1994, the Belle is the market’s oldest casino in the market, however, revenue there has lagged far behind the city’s other two casinos.
CQ Holding President and Chief Executive Officer Terry Downey said, “With the launch of sports betting and exciting renovations planned for Belle of Baton Rouge and our other newly acquired property, Hollywood Casino, we look forward to elevating the city’s allure as a gaming destination.”
CQ announced in December 2020 it would buy the Belle from Caesars Entertainment for an undisclosed sum. A few weeks later, CQ said it had reached a deal to buy Hollywood Casino Baton Rouge for $28.2 million; that sale closed in December.
CQ recently opened a temporary DraftKings Sportsbook at Hollywood. Officials said a permanent DraftKings location will open in 2023 following the completion of the property’s land-based casino.
CQ also owns DraftKings at Casino Queen in East St. Louis, Illinois and Casino Queen Marquette in Marquette, Iowa.
