Cypress Bayou Commences $20 Million Renovation

The Chitimacha Tribe of Louisiana's Cypress Bayou Casino Hotel in Charenton will undergo a $20 million renovation with a new high limit area, restaurants, gift shop and a swimming pool upgrades. Cypress Bayou Chief Executive Officer and General Manager Anthony Patrone said 70 percent of expenditures will remain in the region.

The Chitimacha Tribe of Louisiana announced a million renovation and expansion at its Cypress Bayou Casino Hotel in Charenton, St. Mary Parish, Louisiana. Cypress Bayou Chief Executive Officer and General Manager Anthony Patrone said, “This opportunity will spring us forward to the next level with a newer and more modern feel.” He added 70 percent of the project costs will be spent in the region to aid the local economy.

Amy Jones, communications consultant for the Chitimacha tribe, said the project will bring updates to the casino floor including a high limit area. Café Delphines will replace Café Bayou and a new restaurant, Mabel’s, will offer quick-service sandwiches, salads and hamburgers. A new gift shop, Bizzute’s, will be added and the hotel pool will be upgraded to include a

lazy river and poolside bar and cabanas.

Tribal Chairman O’Neil Darden stated, “The tribe is proud of the growth of its enterprises. The Cypress Bayou Casino Hotel has proven to be a business that provides jobs for Acadiana residents and the tribe is excited about the expansion. The continued growth of the casino allows the tribe to give back to the community, something the tribe looks forward to doing for many years to come.”

Besides Cypress Bayou, the Chitimacha tribe operates Coushatta Indian Resort in Kinder and Paragon Casino Resort in Marksville.
