Sisseton-Wahpeton Sioux and Dakota Magic Casino officials held a ribbon-cutting to unveil the expansion at the tribe’s Hankinson, North Dakota venue. The project enlarged the gaming floor and improved the smoke ventilation system. Director of Marketing Rojelio Rubio said the expansion is the first of five planned phases. Currently approximately 1,000 customers visit Dakota Magic daily and that number is expected to increase when all five phases are completed, Rubio added.
A redesigned casino floor, private VIP lounge, high limit slot room, players club and cashier are among the new amenities, Rubio said. When construction is finished, the casino will offer more than 30,000 square feet of gaming with more than 900 new slot machines and additional table games. A new lounge, a deli and an upscale restaurant called Twin Buffalo Grill also are planned, Rubio said.
“We know we’ve always had a smoke issue. I’ve heard that. It’s an old building with lots of smoke and it’s crowded. If you walk around here, you see a lot of holes in the floor. That’s actually a new ventilation system that is pushing the air up, so all the smoke goes up and we are taking it from the top,” Rubio added.
