Four locations in Washington D.C. recently installed sports betting kiosks. Players must be at least 18 years old. The machines accept cash only. Unlike online sports betting, gamblers don’t need an account to place bets.

On July 30 in Washington, D.C., sports betting kiosks will start taking wagers at Ben’s Next Door on U Street, Lou’s City Bar on Irving Street NW, Dirty Water Sports Bar on H Street NE and Takoma Station Tavern on 4th Street NW. Each location will offer up to four kiosks, said D. C. Lottery spokesperson Nicole Jordan.

“On average, you’ll probably see about three or four kiosks in these locations. At larger locations they can do more, but it’s really about integrating into their business. So, I want to make sure the community knows we’re not trying to set up betting parlors,” Jordan said.

Bettors must be at least 18 years old. The kiosks only accept cash. It’s not necessary to establish an account to place a bet. Like lottery tickets, players can cash in winning tickets at any kiosk location.
