Developer Considers Proposed Casino Site

The former Dairyland Greyhound Park in Kenosha, Wisconsin, has caught the interest of a developer, said Mayor John Anataramian. In August 2015, Governor Scott Walker rejected a proposal by the Menominee tribe and Hard Rock International to develop an $800 million casino complex at the abandoned property.

A buyer may be interested in the former Dairyland Greyhound Park in Kenosha, Wisconsin—the site of an 0 million casino and entertainment complex proposed by the Menominee Indian Tribe and Hard Rock International, but rejected by Governor Scott Walker. The greyhound racetrack closed in 2009 and the 228-acre property has been for sale since August 2015.

Kenosha Mayor John Antaramian said the site could become a manufacturing facility. He said, “There`s an interest. A developer has definitely come in to talk to us because he`s interested and they are doing due diligence, but we`ll see what happens. One of the things that we`re very focused on is the creation of more jobs and good-paying jobs with benefits.”

The potential developer will make a decision to purchase the property or not within the next 60 days.
