The government of Dubai media office has issued a denial of social media claims that the emirate has begun issuing gaming licenses. The United Arab Emirates largely ban gaming.

The Emirate of Dubai has issued a statement that social media reports of it issuing gaming licenses are “inaccurate.”

The denial was issued by the Government of Dubai Media Office, which included no details. Gambling is largely banned in the United Arab Emirates, with some exceptions for raffles and special competitions that require governmental approval. The ban includes online gaming. All of the Gulf states prohibit gambling.
