Electronic Arts Adds eSports Division

Electronic Arts has created an eSports division called the EA Competitive Gaming Division. The division will make classic EA Games available to global eSports competitions.

EA Sports is going global with its classic games in eSports competitions.

The company has created the EA Competitive Gaming Division.

“As the latest step in our journey to put our players first, this group will enable global eSports competitions in our biggest franchises including FIFA, Madden NFL, Battlefield and more,” CEO Andrew Wilson said in a press statement. “EA’s CGD will seek to build a best-in-class program to centralize our efforts with new events, as well as the infrastructure to bring you the world’s preeminent EA competitive experiences,” he said.

Wilson said the CGD will foster competition and community around EA’s games, creating official tournaments and live broadcasts.

The division will be headed by Peter Moore, who is stepping down as the company’s chief operating officer to be executive vice president and chief competition officer.
