The government of Fiji has announced that an American corporation, One Hundred Sands, has withdrawn from its plan to build a casino near Nadi.
Late in 2011, One Hundred Sands was granted a license to develop the casino in partnership with the Snoqualmie tribe of Washington State.
Following multiple delays, the tribe pulled out of the deal. It has filed suit to recover $1.5 million it invested in the $155 million project.
According to FijiToday.com, tribal Chairwoman Carolyn Lubenau said “in the last couple of weeks” One Hundred Sands sold its interest in the casino to another party. No more details were available.
