Coastal wildfires in Oregon shut down the state lottery in Portland for 95 retailers and in the northern coast for another 25 over the September 26-27 weekend.

The blazes damaged the Century Link fiberoptic cables that enable the lottery. One North Portland bar owner said he lost hundreds of dollars of revenue and the lottery estimated it was losing tens of thousands of dollars a day during the outage.
