First Japan IR Expo Set for December

The first Japan IR Expo in Hokkaido has been scheduled for December 11-12. The event, organized by Innovent, will showcase Japan’s northernmost prefecture as a potential integrated resort site.

Innovent Inc. has announced that it will host the first Japan IR Expo at Hokkaido’s AXES Sapporo on Wednesday and Thursday, December 11-12, 2019.

The event is supported by the Tomakomai IR Promotion Council, the Hokkaido Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Hokkaido Economic Federation, the Hokkaido Association of Corporate Executives, and the Hokkaido Tourism Organization.

The expo is aimed at creating opportunities for local companies to enter the IR industry in Hokkaido if the region is selected as one of three locations for Japan’s first integrated resorts.

“In response to the great success of the first Hokkaido IR Showcase held in January 2019, the demand for trade shows of the ‘IR industry is increasing,” Innovent said in an announcement. “Therefore, we have decided to hold an exhibition that brings together products and services indispensable for Japanese IRs.”

Hokkaido Governor Naomichi Suzuki has not yet decided if he will back an integrated resort bid from the prefecture, and the latest reporting suggests that his decision will not come until early 2020, according to local media.
