Former Aristocrat Execs Take Over at Scientific Games

Scientific Games Corp. has confirmed the imminent arrival of a trio of executives formerly with rival Aristocrat Technologies, including Matt Wilson (l.), Siobhan Lane and Connie James. The hires were announced last year but were delayed until the non-compete clauses expired.

Former Aristocrat Execs Take Over at Scientific Games

Gaming supplier Scientific Games is beefing up its management team, at the apparent expense of one of its chief rivals in the slot market, Aristocrat Technologies.

SG, which currently employs former Aristocrat Leisure Ltd. CEO Jamie Odell as a consultant, announced last summer that former Aristocrat Technologies President and Managing Director Matt Wilson will join the company in March as executive vice president and group chief executive, gaming. (Aristocrat Technologies is Aristocrat Leisure’s U.S. subsidiary.) Wilson had to wait out a non-compete agreement prior to assuming the new post.

Last week, the company issued a press release confirming that appointment and that of two other former Aristocrat executives, stating the supplier “is building on its foundation, assembling a strong leadership team for long-term success as it continues to lead in large established gaming markets and grow in emerging markets.”

The release affirmed that Wilson will join the company March 1, and Siobhan Lane, formerly senior vice president of marketing and gaming operations at Aristocrat Technologies, will join Scientific Games February 1 in the new position of chief commercial officer, gaming.

Connie James, former chief financial officer of Aristocrat’s gaming division, joined Scientific Games as chief financial officer, gaming on January 6. Derik Mooberry, who has served as the gaming group chief executive, will be transitioning to a strategic advisory role to support the new leadership team.

While at Aristocrat, Wilson delivered double-digit growth, capitalizing on new business opportunities and developing strong customer relationships. “Matt understands the immense potential of the SG business and looks forward to leading the Gaming Division into the future,” the press release said.

Lane has over 12 years’ experience in the gaming industry and a proven track record of driving business results through strong strategic and executional alignment with a focus on building high performing teams and developing an engaging culture

James is a global finance executive with a history of delivering successful business, cultural and financial transformations. She most recently served as corporate vice president, finance, business operations and supply chain at Cargill.

“We have assembled an impressive leadership team that will complement the existing leaders and talent in our business, further strengthening our great organization and enabling our future potential,” said Scientific Games President and CEO Barry Cottle. “We are committed to making great games and products players and partners love. A strong team of passionate people is the foundation of any great business, and will further solidify our position as the world leader in gaming entertainment.”
