Former Consumer Affairs Commissioner Joins Connecticut Tribal Casino Effort

Bill Rubenstein, a former consumer affairs commission in Connecticut has joined the board of MMCT Venture, which seeks to build a satellite casino that would be jointly owned by the state’s two gaming tribes.

MMCT Venture, a joint venture created by Connecticut’s two gaming tribes to build a satellite casino near the state line with Massachusetts, announced last week that Bill Rubenstein, former consumer affairs commissioner, will join the board of directors.

He will help MMCT in its efforts to site a casino resort that will act as a defense against the Bay State’s $800 million MGM Springfield and the $1.7 billion Wynn Everett.

MGM has mounted a court challenge against the state law under which the tribes formed MMCT Venture.
