Four Winds South Bend Moving Forward

Scheduled to open in early 2018, work is continuing at the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians' Four Winds Casino in South Bend, Indiana. It's the tribe's fourth Four Winds operation; the other three are in Michigan. The property will provide 1,200 jobs and offer 1,800 slots, restaurants, bars and a boutique.

The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians recently offered a preview of its fourth Four Winds Casino, located in South Bend, Indiana. The facility is scheduled to open in early 2018. The tribe also operates Four Winds Casinos in New Buffalo, Hartford and Dowagiac, Michigan. Four Winds Casinos Chief Operating Officer Frank Freedman said, “This is going to be a showstopper. This is a great location because of the proximity and ease of access to the major highways here.”

The property will have a gaming floor with 1,800 slot machines, plus five restaurants, three bars, a boutique and players’ lounge. Table games will not be available because the tribe does not have a gambling compact with the state. “We chose not to do that at this time,” Freedman said.

Hiring already has begun to fill 1,200 jobs at the new facility.

Pokagon Band Chairman John P. Warren said, “One thing that we pride ourselves in is always trying to be good neighbors to the locals. So everyone benefits from it, because we want our citizens to live in a great environment as well.”
