Fourwinds Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony

Ground has been broken for the Fourwinds Market Complex in Siren, Wisconsin, an economic development initiative of the St. Croix Chippewa Indians. The 30,600 square foot complex will include a full-service grocery store, bottle shop with drive-thru, gas station and convenience store, touchless car wash, fast food drive-thru and a storage facility.

A groundbreaking ceremony recently was held for the new Fourwinds Market Complex in Siren, Wisconsin. Owned by the St. Croix Chippewa Indians of Wisconsin, the 30,600 square foot project, the first in a series of tribal economic development initiatives, will include a 23,000 square foot full-service grocery store, a 3,000 square foot bottle shop with a drive-thru, a 1,500 square foot gas station and convenience store with trucker rest stop parking, a touchless car wash, a 3,100 square foot fast food drive-thru restaurant and a 52-unit mini storage facility. The tribe owns the Four Winds Casinos in New Buffalo, Hartford and Dowagiac.

Speakers at the ceremony included Michael J. Decorah, Senior Intergovernmental Affairs Specialist for the St. Croix Chippewa, Tribal Chairman Lewis Taylor and Fourwinds General Manager Jack Sando, among others.

A job fair also was held for the new development to fill construction and retail positions.
