France Orders Casinos Closed for One Month

French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe has ordered the closure of all non-essential businesses, including casinos until mid-April, in an effort to curb the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

“All mainland and Corsican casinos, as well as Parisian gaming clubs, are therefore closed until at least April 15,” France’s Ministry of Solidarity and Health announced.

French gaming group Partouche, which saw an 8.6 percent increase in revenues from November to January, says it’s “cautious” about the rest of the year, noting that “the appearance and rapid development of the Covid-19 epidemic in France, could have an impact on the number of visitors and the activity of our establishments. However, it is impossible to quantify this impact at this stage, and the group’s priority is to protect the health of its employees and customers by implementing adequate health measures.”
