French Casino Revenues Up 2.48 Percent

French casinos generated total gaming revenues of €2.292 billion (US$2.8 billion) in the 2016-17 fiscal year, up 2.48 percent. Operator Lucien Barrière runs four out of five of the top gaming floors.

French Casino Revenues Up 2.48 Percent

Enghien-les-Bains up 4 percent

The 200 casinos in France generated total gaming revenues of €2.292 billion (US$2.8 billion) in the 2016-17 fiscal year, up 2.48 percent from the prior period. However, growth flattened somewhat from 2015-16, when the casinos recorded an increase of 2.59 percent. In the recent fiscal year, 117 showed an increase in annual revenues, compared to 137 in 2015 to 2016.

G3Newswire reports that operator Lucien Barrière leads the pack, running four out of five of the top gaming floors. Enghien-les-Bains, the casino closest to Paris, produced GGR of €169.6 million (US$205.7 million) for an increase of more than 4 percent year-on-year. Toulouse rocketed from sixth place last year to second in 2016-17, with GGR of €47.4 million, up 11 percent. Bordeaux was third with GGR of €46.5 million, up 2.1 percent.

Ranking fourth is the casino in Aix-en-Provence, owned by Groupe Partouche, ranking fourth but down 1 percent with GGR of €46 million. It was second place in the previous period.

Rounding out the top five is the Barrière casino in Blotzheim, fourth in the prior period, with GGR up 5.6 percent to €45.7 million.

Lucien Barrière was the top-earning operator with GGR of €695 million for the year, up 3.6 percent. Groupe Partouche followed with €540 million, an increase of 0.35 per cent, followed by Joa, up 3.25 percent with €211 million.
