It’s Only Just Begun: Atlantic City Revel Casino Finally Sold

Despite months of denials, the sale of the closed Revel casino in Atlantic City has been confirmed. A group led by Colorado developer Bruce Deifik announced it has purchased the former casino from Florida businessman Glenn Straub for $200 million. Deifik said he hopes to re-open the property by summer, which would coincide with the opening of neighboring Hard Rock casino.

Shovels in the Ground for LV Convention Center Expansion

Caesars Moves Closer To Centaur Purchase

The Federal Trade Commission waived a mandated waiting period, moving Caesars Entertainment closer to completing its $1.7 billion purchase of Centaur Holdings. Caesars officials expect the deal to be completed in by July.

Florida Gambling Amendment Nears Target

The group behind a constitutional amendment giving Florida voters the exclusive right to decide whether to authorize future casino gambling in the state announced it submitted more than 725,000 valid signatures to the state attorney general's office. More than 766,200 signatures must be submitted by February 1 to place the proposal on the November ballot.

Proposals Would Expand Kentucky Gambling

Kentucky state Rep. Dennis Keene proposed legislation allowing up to four casinos plus limited casino gambling at existing racetracks. Three other Four Winds properties are located in Michigan.

Washington Casino Opens This Week

The Spokane Tribe of Washington this week will open its third casino, the $40 million Spokane Tribe Casino (l.) near Airway Heights and in the flight path of the Fairchild air Force Base. The 2,900 members of the tribe have been waiting a long time for the casino, which will have 450 slots and 12 gaming tables.

No Firm Date on 3rd Connecticut Tribal Casino

Chippewa Crees, BEH Settle Lawsuit

The Chippewa Cree Tribe's online lending company, Plain Green LLC, and BEH Gaming reached a settlement regarding loans to expand the tribe's Northern Winz Hotel and Casino (l.). BEH filed the lawsuit in 2014 in District Court in Hill County, Montana. Tribal Chairman Harlan Baker said the lawsuit "has been a dark cloud hanging over our community."

Yreka Casino to Open Next Month

The northernmost Indian casino in California, the Rain Rock Casino in Yreka, is preparing to open next month with 500 slots and eight gaming tables. Last week the Karuk tribe held a job fair that was attended by more than 1,000 hopeful employment seekers.

Mystic Lake Adds Rooms, Meeting Space

The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community recently celebrated the opening of Mystic Lake Center in Prior Lake, Minnesota. Quapaws Open Downstream Craft Brewhouse

The Downstream Crafted Brewing Company recently opened at the Quapaw Tribe's Downstream Casino Resort in Quapaw, Oklahoma, following a $400,000 renovation of the casino's Legends Sports Bar. Cherokees Debate Alcohol Referendum

The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians tribal council unanimously approved holding a referendum regarding allowing alcohol sales outside tribal property. Some members said state law allows those sales and a "no" vote in the referendum would have no impact, except to possibly cause the state to deny alcohol sales at the tribe's Harrah's Cherokee (l.).

Oneidas Set to Open Third N.Y. Casino

The state’s increasingly crowded gaming market is going to get more crowded with the March 1 opening of a new gaming venue by the Oneida Indian Nation. Point Place Casino (l.) near Syracuse will feature 500 machine games, 20 table games and attractions that include restaurants, lounges, a bakery and a chocolate shop.

Mohegan Sun Revenues Up, Foxwoods Down
